All-around elastic runs around the lower edge of a fitted sheet. Corner elastic covers separate sections near the corners. For a retail bedding collection, the choice starts with that construction difference and ends with how the finished sample fits your intended mattress.
Neither layout alone tells you which sheet will stay in place better. Fabric, pocket dimensions and the way the elastic is attached also matter.
Both designs are offered commercially; Kayteks lists all-around and corner elastic in its fitted-sheet range. Ask for an underside photo or drawing so you can see exactly what the supplier proposes.
| Construction detail | All-around elastic | Corner elastic |
|---|---|---|
| Placement | Around the lower opening | Separate sections near the corners |
| What to show in a drawing | The full route, joins and any interruptions | Where each section starts and ends |
| Edge finish | How the elastic is sewn on or enclosed | How both elasticized and plain sections are finished |
“Elastic corners” can also mean attached straps or separate clip-on accessories. If you want elastic sewn into the hem, say so. Draw any extra straps separately and specify whether they are included with the sheet.
Provide the mattress width, length and depth, including any topper. Keep these measurements separate from the finished sheet dimensions. A stated pocket depth is not, by itself, a confirmed mattress-fit range.
Ask how the supplier measures the pocket and where the lower edge should sit beneath the mattress. MoruSilk's custom-sheet specifications use mattress dimensions, toppers and elastic placement as separate inputs. This is a useful way to organize your own brief.
Use Pingio's sheet size reference to discuss size names, then agree on the actual measurements for your collection.
Where practical, compare samples made with the same fabric, size and pocket construction. If those also differ, you cannot attribute the fit difference to elastic placement alone.
Fit each sample to the intended mattress and check:
Label the samples and take photos of the top, sides and underside. Note whether clips or straps were used. Agree on acceptable fit before comparing the results; these practical checks do not establish durability or fit on other mattress sizes.
If the collection covers several mattress depths, check each intended setup. A small table with mattress setups as rows and samples as columns makes gaps easy to spot.
If both samples meet the fit requirements, compare their quotations on the same product specification. Corner elastic is not automatically the cheaper choice, and all-around elastic does not automatically justify a higher price.
Keep the selected sample, drawing and measurements together. The final specification should identify the elastic route, section lengths where relevant, attachment method and tested mattress setups.
Product copy can describe the confirmed construction, such as elastic around the lower perimeter. Claims about stronger grip, longer life or a sheet that never slips off need separate evidence for the finished product.
